So you want to be an ordained minister? Or a priest, pastor, monk, rabbi or something else? ISM makes it easy for you.
Many people seek out online ordinations so they can officiate at wedding ceremonies. An ordination at any of our ISM ministries will allow people the authority to perform wedding ceremonies in most U.S. states, although not all. We recommend that all our ministers contact their local county clerk to find out if they recognize their authority before performing a ceremony.
Outside of the U.S. it’s rare for governments to recognize the religious authority of a minister in a non-traditional religion (even if they have a brick and mortar center of worship). However, we plan to try and change this in the future.
But performing ceremonies is only a part of this. Taking on the title of minister (or priest, pastor, monk, rabbi, etc.) can be inspiring and empowering – by vowing to represent and teach the ideals of ISM, our ministers can help make the world a better place, and enrich their lives with purpose and fulfillment.
Over half a million people all over the world have already been ordained through ISM’s original ministry: Dudeism, and we hope to ordain many more with our diverse new array of ministries.
